Meet The Doctor

Oral Surgeon Christa Favot D.D.S., M.Sc., F.R.C.D. (C), FADSA, Dip. NDBA

Dr. Christa Favot is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery and surgical residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anaesthesia at the University of Toronto, where she was awarded the Howard James McLaughlin scholarship for outstanding performance as a senior resident. She also completed an internship in maxillofacial surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and received a Master of Science degree concentrating on immunology and bone biology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Favot is Associate Staff at Health Sciences North, Dept. Surgery, a Lecturer for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and a Clinical Instructor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry.

She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology as well as a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. She has a special interest in implant dentistry and minimally invasive bone reconstruction and grafting.

Dr. Favot has gained additional training to perform tongue-tie releases in infants who are struggling to feed well, from Dr. Ghaheri’s teaching and the American Laser Study Club. She has also attended courses through The Breathe Institute in Los Angeles and can perform frenuloplasties in children and adults. In addition, she continues to take courses to further her education on breastfeeding, oral myofunctional therapy, and airway dentistry. 

Dr. Favot is active in pursuing continuing education and providing education.  She is a lecturer at  NOSM and teaches the head and neck lecture annually as well as hosts NOSM’s future doctors in the surgicenter for community based learning. She gives educational talks regularly for colleagues in the dental and medical communities and hosts the Oral Surgery Study Club. 

I addition to her practice with Dental implants, bone grafting, and diseases of the jaw bones, Dr. Favot is a member of the International Consortium of Oral Ankylofrenula Professionals, whose vision is to promote best practices for the assessment, diagnosis, and integrative treatment of restricted oral tissues.
